Mortgage Protection Insurance in North Richland Hills
We set up life coverage sized to your mortgage balance and the years left on the loan, so the payment never falls on your family alone. You also get a realistic timeline for each step, from first quote to an active policy.

Coverage Built Around the Loan You Actually Have
Mortgage protection insurance is life coverage matched to what you still owe and how long you have left to pay it. If you die while the policy is in force, the proceeds go to the person you list as beneficiary. Whether that money clears the balance, covers the monthly bill for a while or goes partly toward other costs is up to them.
Mortgage life coverage sold through a lender usually pays the lender directly. The amount often shrinks as the balance drops, while the premium stays the same. A private policy keeps the beneficiary in control. Some carriers also add riders that help if a serious illness or disability interrupts your income.
Most clients call us within a few months of closing, often after a stack of mailers arrives. We explain what those letters are and what they leave out. Then we tell you how long each step will realistically take for your situation.

What We Handle for You
- 01
Sizing to your loan
We start with your current balance, rate and remaining term. Coverage is matched to those numbers, not rounded up to a figure that inflates the premium.
- 02
Level or decreasing coverage
A decreasing policy follows the loan balance down and usually costs less. A level policy holds its amount, which leaves room for other bills once the mortgage is paid. We show you both side by side.
- 03
Rider review
Living benefit, disability and return of premium riders vary by carrier. We explain what each one actually pays for and when it triggers, so you only add what earns its cost.
- 04
Beneficiary setup
We go through primary and contingent beneficiaries with you, including how co-borrowers and children should be listed.
- 05
A dated application plan
You get a written outline of each step and when to expect it: application, any exam, underwriting and delivery. If a carrier asks for records or the date moves, we call you before you have to ask.
Questions about Mortgage Protection?
Call(817) 790-9714When Mortgage Protection Is Worth a Look
The mortgage rests on one paycheck
When a single salary covers most of the monthly payment, losing that earner could put the loan behind within a few months.
You just closed or refinanced
A new loan amount or term is the natural moment to match coverage to it. Your existing policy may no longer line up.
The mail keeps coming
Letters that look official often follow a closing. If you are unsure whether to answer them, we can walk you through what they offer and what they leave out.
Your work coverage ends if you leave
Group life through an employer usually stops when the job does. It is rarely sized to a mortgage in the first place.
A co-borrower could not cover it alone
If you bought with a spouse or partner, ask whether either of you could keep up the full payment alone. If not, coverage on both lives may make sense.
How the Process Runs, Step by Step
- 1
A first call
We ask about your loan, your health in broad terms and what you want covered. You leave the call with a rough sense of the options and what each will involve.
- 2
A meeting that fits your week
We meet you at your office or place of business, or keep it on the phone. You choose the time. We arrive within the window we set and keep it to the time we said.
- 3
Application and underwriting
Some policies issue on health questions alone, while others need a short paramedical exam. We tell you which applies to you and roughly how many weeks underwriting usually takes. Then we update you as it moves.
- 4
Reading the policy together
Once the carrier approves you, we sit down and walk through the contract page by page before you sign. Beneficiaries and the first premium date get confirmed at that same meeting.
What Shapes Your Premium
Mortgage protection premiums come down to the amount of coverage, how long it lasts and how the carrier rates your health. We give you your quote by phone and explain each number, so you can see what changes the price before you apply.
- How much you owe and for how long
- More money owed or more years left on the loan means the carrier carries a bigger risk for longer, and the premium reflects both.
- Age and health
- Rates are set by your age and health history when you apply. Applying earlier usually locks in a lower premium for the life of the policy.
- Tobacco use
- Smokers and nicotine users are rated differently by nearly every carrier, and the gap can be significant.
- Coverage type and riders
- Decreasing coverage generally costs less than level. Riders such as return of premium add to the price.
- How it is underwritten
- Policies issued without an exam are faster and simpler, but they often cost more than fully underwritten coverage for a healthy applicant.
Mortgage Protection Questions We Hear Often
Is this the same as PMI?
No. Private mortgage insurance protects your lender if you stop paying the loan. It does nothing for your family. Mortgage protection insurance pays your chosen beneficiary if you die during the term.
Does the money have to go to the mortgage company?
Not with a private policy. The proceeds are paid to your beneficiary, who can settle the balance in full, carry on with monthly payments or set some aside for other bills. The lender has no claim on that money.
Will my coverage end if I move to a new loan?
No. The contract is tied to you as the insured person, not to any particular mortgage, so a refinance or a sale of the property leaves it untouched. It runs for its full term as long as premiums are kept current. When a new loan is bigger or stretches over more years, we can check whether the original amount still fits and add to it if needed.
How long until my coverage is active?
Simplified policies can be approved fairly quickly. Fully underwritten policies with an exam usually take a few weeks, sometimes longer if medical records are needed. We give you a realistic estimate at the start and call you if it changes.
Should I just buy term life instead?
Often that is exactly what mortgage protection is: a term policy sized and timed to the loan. If you need broader coverage for income or college, our Term Life Insurance page explains how a larger policy can cover the mortgage and more.
